Janvi Sai
Hello! I’m Janvi Sai, and I’m based in New York City where I am a freelance writer on music and culture. My professional experience ranges across the media, beauty, and entertainment industries. I have held roles in production, development, strategy, editing, partnerships, and marketing.
(If you’re here because you’ve seen my facts about Snoop Dogg's cultural crossover history on his main Instagram grid, welcome.) I have a penchant for researching esoterica, trivia, and arcana, and enjoy digging up little known personal histories.
I am an alumna of Barnard College of Columbia University, where I was the recipient of the Brandt Playwriting Award for my bold and comedic plays. My creative writing encompasses scripts, essays, and fiction. I have also penned articles, marketing and product copy.
As a writer and creative, my work oscillates between the familiar and the speculative, the personal and socially relevant, the specific and the eclectic, and historical and contemporary sensibilities. You’ll find me making references to pop culture and strange history wherever I can.
I was born in Brownsville, eastern Brooklyn, grew up in Florida, and made my way back to my roots in New York City.
I have been an enthusiastic storyteller for as long as I can remember. I always felt I was meant to tell stories. My hunch was confirmed in the sixth grade when I delivered the performance of a lifetime, giving an impassioned oral report to my class on Milton Hershey and every oddity and detail I could find and share about the life of the famous chocolatier.
I thrive when building community, collaborating, and creating with others. If you’d like to work together, drop me a line at janvissai@gmail.com. I’m on LinkedIn🔗 too.
